A Message From Master Harvey

Dear all,

Since the letter has finally garnered some much needed attention to the current state of MCO, let us now discuss and share our views on this site, rather than on Mr. Peter Khiew's blog site.

Pertaining to the issue of the letter that Guo Zheng wrote, I know many of the ex-seniors are very unsatisfied and unhappy over it. Why, I do not know. Let me organized the events in order.

  • Guo Zheng sent a mail to Mr. Peter Khiew to appeal for help and assistance from different parties, such as the school's board of governers, PIBG, teachers and so forth.
  • Mr. Peter Khiew thought it was a good idea to post the letter on his blog so that the issue can be brought to light, since his blog has a large following
  • Mr. Peter Khiew then proceeded to ask our opinion (Soo Kok Keat, President 2008/2009 and I) about the idea, in which we agreed to.
  • Thus, on August 23rd, the letter was published on peterkhiew.blogspot.com
  • After a few posts and countless comments, all discussions concerning the orchestra was closed

It was meant as an APPEAL for HELP and ASSISTANCE. Thus, stating problems that the orchestra is facing is unavoidable. The letter was never intended to hurt anyone's feelings and I personally could not see anything that could cause some people to be disheartened.

So now that we have finally gained your attention, shall we stop this pointless squabbling and work together for the better of the orchestra?

  1. Thank you, Joel for the quick response.

    To all,
Let us leave behind what grudge and irrationality caused by the heated debate over at Mr. Peter Khiew's site.

Think of it optimistaically, in the sense that the letter has indeed succeeded in getting the attention of so many seniors that has been absent for so long due to many reasons that come along with being away from school. Now that we're finally gathered back together again, let this be a reason to celebrate, instead.

So, let us together, work hand in hand for the betterment of the orchestra and it's members.

  2. Perhaps master Gooi Harvey did really sumarize the news or the letter which is a good thing .

so , if ex seniors who wish to help the MCO up you can always give a hand (even i wish to). Do not always feel that the current board does not need your help .i can fell that they really did need .In my current board last year , i've always wish to had a help from the old seniors that they can give me a splendid guide to shine MCO up .

But unfortunately its hard to contact the old seniors because i don't even recognise them .So now, until the letter from master Yew was post , i get to know some of the seniors from far away even from overseas .From here i thank all of the seniors .

Regarding the event that is under process i hope that all the members of the Michaelian
Chinese Orchestra will help and show that we michaelians have the Michaelian Spirit to face things !

    regards .=]

  3. Since that we have finally got in contact with each other again, shall we leave our contact details so to prevent that from happening again?

Remember, this is for the new generation of the orchestra.

  4. It's a good sign that there is no more squabbling and that the wheels of motion have begun to run. I shall be dropping by MCO again soon, and have already made some arrangements myself.

  5. Hi all,

It's good that the fire is back. I believe the main thing now is that everyone in the club must stand together and make a comeback.

Let me say something. Everyone from MCO would want to see MCO being recognized and achieve a better reputation. But let us not forget that the most important thing to make it in the orchestra is unity, and the brotherhood that MCO should have. Get everyone involved, make everyone feel that they belong. Songs too hard? Practice together. Learn it together. I would just like to say. Enjoy the learning process together. The ex-seniors actually care, that's why they felt offended when MCIG/MCO is being "criticized", but Guo Zheng on the other hand like Harvey said is just trying to bring awareness and at the same time hope that you all in MCO now will do your best to bring it up again. What they have achieved is their achievement.

You should make your own achievement. Prove that you too can do it. Ask the ex-seniors, I'm sure they are always willing to help.

Then again. All the best and take care.

  6. Yes, the ex seniors are really care. They have done some much to make MCO one of the most prestige uniform units in St. Michael. I am sure they are very willing to come back even if they don't give any comment here. They believe that actions are more important than words.

  7. ST. Thx for the affirmation. sometimes, it really does take just a word of hi from others to lift the spirits of members. Knowing that we still have the support of so many ex members is really comforting. Thank them for us.:)

  10. Please post up a report on the meeting held on the 19th of September 2009. Then we'll be able to see what updates have we got in the MCO and what efforts have been put in to kick-start the improvements.

Remember, work towards your VISION and MISSION. COMMUNICATE professionally. It all makes a difference.
